Certificate of Attainment in Greek: A1 to C2
Understand the official Greek language certificate levels, skills and exam pathway administered by the Centre for the Greek Language.
The Certificate of Attainment in Greek is the state-recognised proficiency examination administered through the Centre for the Greek Language at CEFR levels A1 through C2.
Choose the level by purpose
Match the certificate to the requirement of the receiving authority, employer or university. A higher level is not automatically the right registration if another specific route or combined exam applies.
Prepare all assessed skills
Official materials describe communicative tasks across listening, reading, writing and speaking. Diagnose each skill separately, practise current sample tasks and verify dates and fees before paying.
A reliable practice method
Work with a short recording by a contemporary Greek speaker. Notice the target pattern, retrieve it without reading, and place it in a message about your own life. Revisit it after one day and one week. Keep listening, pronunciation and production together: recognising a form is not the same as using it in a live interaction.
How to judge progress
Repeat one realistic task every two weeks and compare the amount of support, clarity, accuracy and speed. When an official certificate or immigration procedure matters, verify the current rule with the responsible Greek authority; an app, forum or undated article cannot determine eligibility.
